Introduction on our involvement
We had participated in the regional planning process from its initial conception in 2002! Representatives of our society attended several of the public meetings organized by the HRM's staff over the years.
Formal submissions during year-2004
- Submission to the Regional Council Public Hearing on May 04, 2004- Interim Growth Management Strategy, Regional Planning - Proposed Amendments District 1, 2 & 3
Formal submissions during year-2005
- Our submission/critique on the final draft (#2) of the Regional Plan, HRM: December 18, 2005; an addendum to our December 18th submission:
- Ref. rp2005_02: "Enact a Lawn Fertilizer Bylaw banning the use of phosphorus containing fertilizers similar or superior to the year-2001 bylaw of the City of Minneapolis"
- Ref. rp2005_03: "Endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) in the effluents of STPs (sewage treatment plants) with focus on those discharging into lakes and rivers"
- Ref. rp2005_04: "All studies relating to potential impacts on lakes and rivers should be conducted by a qualified limnologist; and all studies should also include the professional designations/credentials of all the participants"
- Ref. rp2005_05: "Set up a civil service LAKES AUTHORITY in order to restore lakes, address public concerns, and related aspects"
- Ref. rp2005_06: "Set up scientifically credible Lake Carrying Capacities (LCC) prior to any further development with urgent focus on Morris, Russell, Kearney, and Papermill Lakes"
